Evolving Patterns in the Dezeen Showroom

A Spotlight on Azmas Rugs

The world’s most influential design magazine, Dezeen, featured pieces from our Evolving Patterns and Tessellation collections in their online showroom.

Grid, featured here, is a collaboration with computer scientist Craig S Kaplan. The pattern gradually evolves inwards, from a straightforward checked pattern on the far outer sides to a complex maze as it reaches the midline of the rug.

The second feature sheds light on Shapeshifter, Michael Rowan’s Escher-inspired masterpiece. The sharp lines and gradient colours computer scientist’s “math art” are best suited to the flatweave structure created our artisans.

As is the case with all of our creations, both rugs were woven by hand in Rajasthan, India.
